Sing Along Sound of Music
Finally, a film where it’s not wrong to sing along
Sing-a-long-a Sound of Music is your chance to test your vocal range alongside an assortment of several hundred other nuns, Von Trapp family members and Julie Andrews look-a-likes.

The evening kicks off with a live show during which your host will lead you through a vocal warm-up, judge the invariably astoundingly inventive fancy dress costumes and award well-deserved prizes. Whilst costumes are not compulsory they are highly recommended, the more inventive the better!

Having been shown how to make good use of your free goody bag throughout the film and armed with appropriate heckling actions (from hissing at the countess to barking at Rolf and, of course, cheering for Julie) you’ll be ready to sit back and watch the original 1965 movie in glorious Technicolor ™. Lyrics for all songs are shown on the screen, ensuring you have every opportunity to sing your hearts out. From this point on the audience are the stars of the show and almost anything can happen – the first rule of Sing-a-long-a is THERE ARE NO RULES!

Dress code- it’s not compulsory to dress up but many people do and it really adds to the fun. Dip into the wardrobe of your imagination and surprise us with your creation.

The pre-show- there is a 30-minute pre-film show during which your host will lead you through a vocal warm-up, prepare you for special moments throughout the film and judge the fancy dress competition. Everyone receives a free goody bag with special props for the “magic moments” to make the evening go with a bang.
Running time- including the pre-show and interval, Sing-a-long-a Sound of Music show lasts about 3 hours 50 mins.
The interval- this takes place after about two and a quarter hours and lasts for 15 minutes. Most hosting venues have a bar, which is usually open throughout the evening, but please check with the venue you will be visiting in advance.
Suitability for children- The Sound of Music is a U certificate film in the UK and is suitable for all. However, some of the evening performances can get a little lively, so may be more suitable for older children (the late finishing time may also mean that younger ones get tired) but certainly matinees are ideal for families.
